WHAT’S HAPPENING IN HALDIMAND COUNTY THIS WEEK

Everywhere

• It's Earth Day! Check out a couple of cool ideas below to celebrate and show our planet some love. There will also be some local cleanups on Saturday, which will appear in Friday’s newsletter.

• The 2026 Haldimand County Firefighters Vintage Calendars are now available. They’re $25, with $5 going towards local Firefighters Associations. Reach out to Dave Erauw to get one before they’re gone.

Caledonia

• Ready to launch your career? Join the Haldimand Job Fair on April 24, 2-6 PM at Caledonia Fairgrounds. Opportunities await. More info at soarcs.ca/events/haldimand-job-fair-2025

• Gather your crew and flex those trivia muscles. McKinnon Park hosts a trivia night on April 24 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM. $160 gets your table of 8 in the game.

• Cards are on the table. Euchre’s going down Tuesday and Thursday at 2 PM and 4 PM at the Caledonia Legion. Shuffle up and join the fun.

• Belt it out this Friday night. Hammer Hogs is the spot for karaoke, so bring your song, grab the mic, and steal the spotlight.

• Get your garden groove on with the Haldimand Horticultural Society this Thursday at 7 PM, St Paul's Anglican Church, for Kevin Kavanagh's talk on native shade plants.

• Canadian Tire’s Garden Centre is now open for the season.

• Feeling 55+ and fabulous? Join Cypres 55+ this week for a wild mix of bingo, yoga, tech tips, dance parties, and more. Service Canada’s even stopping by for a chat.

• Registration is now open for the Caledonia Competitive Dance Team’s June auditions.

• The Silent Book Club meets on Wednesday at 6 at the Caledonia Library.

• This Wednesday, 8–10:30 PM, Ye Olde Squire’s bringing the jams. Live music, cold drinks, and good vibes—grab your crew and make it a night.

• Caledonia Legion’s open stage is calling. Swing by Wednesday the 23rd, 7–10 PM, and show off your skills. Don’t forget your instrument—let’s hear what you’ve got.

Cayuga

• Think you’re a trivia genius? Prove it on April 24 at the Cayuga Legion. Feast on pulled pork, flex your pop culture smarts, and snag bragging rights—all for $30. Hosted by Haldimand Museums, doors open at 5.

• Spring into creativity. Kids ages 5-12 can paint, draw, and craft their way through spring at Wildwood Art Gallery & Studio. Classes start April 22.

• Got dirt? River Road Nature School is in need of clean fill.

Dunnville

• Spruce up your life. Don’t miss Dunnville’s Home, Garden, and Craft Show, April 25–26 at the arena. Presented by the Lions & Optimist Club—see you there.

• Got leftover paint cans? Skip the wait for hazardous waste days—Home Hardware takes them anytime. Problem solved, and your garage just got a little less messy.

• Dunnville Secondary’s Relay for Life returns Friday, April 25th. Don’t miss the opening ceremony and inspiring survivor lap from 7-8:30 pm. Come cheer them on!

• Seniors, mark your calendar for April 24. Grandview Lodge is the place to be, with games, chair exercises, bingo, and social time from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. All for $2–$5.

• Friday night at the Dunnville Legion means one thing: grab the mic, sing your heart out, and let the tunes make you a star (or not).

• Dunnville Rotary’s Duck Race tickets are now available to buy. Only 500 tickets have been printed - pick yours up at Art Service, Jay Summer’s Garage or from Ben Tucci at the Dunnville Farmer’s Market.

• Cut, paste, and create Thursday, 7-9 at Creative Barracks’ Collage and Zine night. Friday? Teens and adults, mould your masterpiece at their Headspace Planters Pottery Workshop from 7-9. Art awaits.

• Kick off your weekend at New Amsterdam this Friday night with live tunes from BJ Frid that'll have you tapping your toes and humming along all night.

Fisherville / Selkirk

• Ladle up some fun on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Fisherville Lions Hall. From 4:30 to 7:30 PM, local restaurants face off for soup supremacy. Tickets are $12 for three or $20 for six, and all proceeds support the local food banks. Come hungry, vote wisely, and don’t forget your canned goods.

• Need a midweek thrill? Catch the Ace is back this Wednesday at the Fisherville Community Centre—don’t miss your shot at the action. The jackpot is currently estimated at $25,000.

Hagersville

• This year’s HSS Crime Stoppers Breakfast is happening on Friday morning, with seatings at 8:00 and 9:00. All proceeds go directly to support Crime Stoppers.

• Think you can rock the mic or at least muster the guts to try? Plank Road Taps & Grill’s Open Mic/Jam Night is daring you to step up TONIGHT.
