Good Morning Haldimand County
Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Weekend
We’ve reached the final weekend of August, which means summer is now staring at the calendar and pretending not to notice what’s about to happen.
Fortunately, Haldimand County isn’t winding down quietly.
There’s plenty happening across the county this weekend, with live music, karaoke, markets, community fundraisers, car shows, food, movies, racing and enough card games to settle several longstanding personal disputes. If your summer goal was to get out more, you’re running out of time to keep saying you’ll start next weekend.
It’s also a particularly good weekend to show up hungry. Local organizations, service clubs and community groups are once again feeding people, raising money and finding increasingly effective ways to make cooking at home seem unnecessary.
And because this is Haldimand County, there are cars. Lots of cars. Some will be parked beautifully in rows while strangers discuss engines. Others will be moving considerably faster and making enough noise to ensure nobody nearby forgets they’re there.
The weekend also offers plenty of chances to support local organizations and the people behind them. Buy something, toss a few dollars in the donation jar, attend a fundraiser or simply show up. A surprising amount of what happens around here exists because somebody volunteered to organize it, cook it, set it up or clean up afterward.
So squeeze a little more out of August while you still can. Get outside, hear some music, eat something you didn’t have to make yourself and wander into something you hadn’t planned on.
September can wait until Tuesday.
Until then, August still has a few tricks left.

The Collectors Show comes to the Caledonia Lions Hall Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sports cards, Pokémon, collectibles and plenty of opportunities to discover that something you threw out 20 years ago is now worth money.
