Good Morning, Haldimand County!

Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Weekend

September is moving right along, but Haldimand County clearly isn’t ready to settle into a quiet fall routine. This weekend brings another full calendar of live music, community events, food, cars and plenty of reasons to get out of the house.

Toronto Motorsports Park is putting Japanese cars in the spotlight with Spirit of Japan, a full day dedicated to JDM track action. There’ll be open lapping, drifting, a trackside car show, showcase laps and more. If the sound of a finely tuned Japanese engine does something to your soul, you probably already know where you’ll be.

In Dunnville, Veterans House Alliance International will unveil its Flags of Honour Saturday morning at Wingfield Park. The display recognizes veterans and first responders while raising money to help veterans who need financial assistance, housing, legal or emotional support.

Julia’s Old Fashioned Christmas Charity continues doing what it does best, helping people. Its weekly Friday food giveaway returns with a truckload of free groceries available to anyone who could use them. With grocery bills being what they are, that truck is doing some very important work.

And, as usual, those are only a few of the things happening around the county. There’s live music to find, community groups to join, places to eat, things to watch and probably somebody somewhere dealing a hand of euchre.

We’re now firmly into that September sweet spot when the days are still warm enough to make plans and the evenings are cool enough that you don’t immediately regret leaving the air conditioning.

So have a look through this weekend’s list, text the person who always says they want to do something, and make them actually pick something this time.
