Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Weekend

September has reached that sweet spot where summer refuses to leave, fall is barging in anyway, and Haldimand County has somehow scheduled something for everyone.

This weekend brings live music, comedy, classic cars, crafting, community dinners, markets, hockey, fishing and enough karaoke to give even the most confident shower singer somewhere to test the theory.

The South Coast Dream Cruise will be making its way through the county, with stops in Jarvis, Cayuga and Dunnville, while Caledonia marks the 35th annual Terry Fox Run on Sunday. There’s also Crop for a Cause in Hagersville, Trucks to Touch in Jarvis, a Walleye Derby in Caledonia and plenty happening at local Legions.

Dunnville is particularly determined to keep everyone busy. Yuk Yuk’s comedy comes to the Lifespan Centre Friday night, Purple Haven has its Home on the Range experience, GrandErie Home Hardware has a fall wreath workshop, and live music fills several local venues throughout the weekend. There’s even a household hazardous waste drop-off Saturday morning, for anyone whose idea of a productive weekend involves finally dealing with whatever has been lurking in the garage since 2019.

Elsewhere, you can catch the Bonfire Boys in Hagersville, Crank in Caledonia, JD Comfort in Jarvis, or take your chances at trivia, cards, karaoke and a barn dance.

The Caledonia Legion has a BBQ Friday from 5–7 p.m., followed by Victor Morgado’s Open Mic from 7–10. Dinner, then your big debut.

The Caledonia Hunters & Anglers Association hosts the Caledonia Walleye Derby Saturday from 7 a.m.–3 p.m. The fish have officially been warned.

The Caledonia Legion hosts its Veterans Dinner Saturday at noon, with entertainment by the Country Ramblers.

The 35th annual Caledonia Terry Fox Run is Sunday at LaFortune Park. Registration starts at 9 a.m., with 1K, 5K and 10K routes beginning at 10.

The Corvairs host St. Catharines Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Hockey is back, and suddenly yelling from the stands is socially acceptable again.

Hammer Hogs packs the weekend with karaoke Friday, Crank live Saturday and trivia Monday. Sing badly, rock out, then prove you know things.
