WHAT’S HAPPENING IN HALDIMAND COUNTY THIS WEEK

Everywhere

No licence, no problem. It’s Family Fishing Week in Ontario, so grab a rod and cast your best shot. Free fishing until July 6.

Caledonia

Get ready for three days of finger-lickin’, napkin-grabbin’, belly-rubbin’ BBQ. The Caledonia Rib & Beer Fest takes over the Fairgrounds July 4 to 6 with ribs, brews, live music, and a kids' zone. Gates open Friday at 4, and admission is just $2 at the door (free for kids under 5). Come hungry.

The Caledonia Legion is open on Friday from 2 to 10, featuring a BBQ from 5 to 7, live music from 7 to 10, and free pool all day. Solid lineup.

Bring your voice or just your confidence. Karaoke runs Friday night at Hammer Hogs. Sing loud, sing proud, or just enjoy the show.

Maintenance Mondays returns July 7 at York Centennial Hall from 10 a.m. to noon. Bring your tools, pull some weeds, and help keep the gardens looking sharp.

The 28th Annual Kids Fishing Derby casts off Saturday, July 5, from 9 to 2:30. Free lunch for little anglers, bait included, and trophies for top catches. Bring your own rod and a grown-up. Location: 1407 Brant County Hwy 54, Caledonia.

Trivia kicks off Monday at 7:30 at Hammer Hogs. Round up your smartest friends or just the ones who guess well, and grab a table.

Cut Your Own Lavender is happening at Purple Haven all weekend long.

Cayuga

On Tuesday, July 8, from 1 to 3 PM, learn how to preserve your family photos and heirlooms with help from Haldimand Museums staff. Includes a presentation and hands-on workshop.

The Bird Nests drop-in program runs all weekend at Ruthven Park. Learn how birds build their nests with hands-on displays and fun facts. Great for curious kids and nature fans.

Dunnville

The No. 6 RCAF Dunnville Museum hosts its Annual Open House and Car Show on Saturday, July 5 from 10 to 3. Enjoy classic cars, live music, museum tours, a vendor market, and BBQ lunch. Location: 536 Port Maitland Road, Dunnville.

Sandy Acres Park is hosting a wide lawn sale and BBQ on Saturday, July 5, starting at 8 AM. Come early for the deals, stay for the burgers.
