Good morning, Haldimand County!
Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Weekend
Winter tried to hang around a little longer than anyone asked it to, but let’s be honest, it’s losing the fight. The snowbanks are gone, the days are getting longer, and the number of things happening around the county has officially exploded again. Which is good news for anyone who spent February hibernating and is now ready to leave the house.
This weekend alone, you could be eating fish at the Caledonia Lions fry, testing your luck at a Legion bingo, wandering through the Ancaster Spring Craft Show, or watching Elvis take over the stage in Brantford. If you prefer your entertainment with a side of green beer, there are St. Patrick’s parties popping up everywhere, from Hammer Hogs to the Tav to Muck’s. Somewhere in there, you could also catch live music, play trivia, paint something while sipping a drink, or celebrate a couple marking 65 years of marriage. Not a bad lineup for mid-March.
The arenas are busy again, too, which means shinny, public skating, and plenty of parents standing along the boards pretending they aren’t cold. If you’ve got kids with energy to burn, there are drop-in activities, volleyball, crafts, and library programs to keep them busy. If you’re the competitive type, there’s Euchre, Hoss, Mah Jongg, and trivia nights waiting to test how much you actually know.
And of course, there are a few Stag & Does happening this weekend. Around here, that basically means a community party disguised as wedding fundraising. Expect games, prizes, music, and someone loudly explaining the rules of whatever game they’re running.
So if you were thinking there might not be much going on, think again. The county is wide awake again.
Now let’s get into it.
