Good morning, Haldimand County!
Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Weekend
Spring is officially here. Not the fake-out version where we get one nice day and then immediately go back to winter… this is the real deal. Calendar says so, so we’re running with it.
You can feel the shift already. People are cracking windows open, pretending 5 degrees is t-shirt weather, and suddenly remembering they own shoes that aren’t winter boots. It’s like the whole county collectively decided, “Alright, we’re back.”
There’s also a noticeable change in attitude. The winter grumpiness starts to fade, group chats come back to life, and plans that used to sound like a lot of effort suddenly feel like a great idea. Funny how that works when you’re not bracing yourself against freezing wind just to leave the house.
And right on cue, the calendar wastes no time filling up. Live music, community events, things happening in every direction you look. It’s like everything hit pause for a few months and is now trying to make up for lost time in one weekend.
So if you’ve been in full hibernation mode, consider this your official wake-up call. Shake off the winter routine, text the people you’ve been ignoring since January, and actually say yes to something. Spring is here, and Haldimand County clearly plans to keep you busy.

Caledonia
The Caledonia Spring Home & Garden Show kicks off today at 2 and runs through Sunday at 5 at the fairgrounds. If your house needs inspiration or you just want to pretend you’re about to become a garden person, this is your moment.
Hammer Hogs is basically your weekend personality now. Karaoke on Friday if you’re feeling brave, live music featuring MYKUL on Saturday if you’d rather leave the singing to someone else, and trivia on Monday if you want to prove you’re the smartest person at the table (or at least argue like it).
The Caledonia Arena has adult shinny and beginner skating this morning, public skating on Saturday, and teen shinny plus beginner skating on Monday. Plenty of chances to get on the ice… or cling to the boards with dignity.
The Caledonia Legion has open mic night tonight featuring Victor Morgado. Always a bit of everything and usually a few surprises… some planned, some not.
Cypress 55+ is stacked today with Tabata, line dancing, and a women’s social. Monday keeps things moving with a Pound full-body workout and euchre club, because balance in life is important.
And yes, the Caledonia Lions Fish Fry is back today from 4 to 7 at the Lions Hall.
