WHAT’S HAPPENING IN HALDIMAND COUNTY THIS WEEK

It’s Family Fishing Week in Ontario! Until July 6, Canadian residents can cast a line anywhere in the province without needing a fishing licence. Perfect time to reel in some fun.

Caledonia Canada Day Celebrations

• 8–10 AM: Knights of Columbus Canada Day Breakfast (Kinsmen Park).

• 8 AM–8 PM: Splash Pad and Pool open all day.

• 10 AM: Red & White Canada Day Parade on Argyle Street- Jeff’s Outdoor will be collecting food bank donations along the route.

• 11 AM–4 PM: Kids Zone with free bouncy slide, ponies, crafts, games, plus 40 craft vendors and food trucks. Free Tim Horton’s coffee, and the Steven Young Rubber Duck Race.

• 11 AM–10 PM: Legion beer gardens

• Dusk: Fireworks at the dam

Cypress 55+ this week has Tai Chi on Wednesday, Dance Fit & Yoga on Thursday, a Walking Group & Line Dancing on Friday and on Monday, Mindfulness Meditation, Card Making and Euchre Club.

Hammer Hogs cranks up the fun with karaoke on Friday night. Grab the mic, grab a drink, and sing like no one’s recording.

This Friday, the Caledonia Legion is open from 2 to 10 PM. Enjoy a BBQ from 5 to 7, live music from 7 to 10, and free pool all day.

Wondering about memory changes or living with dementia? The Bumble Bee Coffee Group meets Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3 PM at 103 Inverness Street in Caledonia. Snacks and support are free.

Euchre is on Thursday at the Caledonia Legion at 2 PM or 7 PM. No membership needed. Just bring your luck, your cards, or both. Trump confusion is part of the fun.

Sean McCurley plays live Wednesday at Ye Olde Squire from 7 to 9:30 PM. Come for the dinner, stay for the music, and forget about work for a while.

Outdoor yoga among lavender blooms at Purple Haven Farm on Wednesday from 7–8 PM. Breathe deep, stretch gently, and soak in peaceful vibes amid fragrant fields.

Cayuga

The Bird Nests drop-in program at Ruthven Park runs all week. Learn how birds build their nests through hands-on displays and fun facts. Great for curious kids and nature-loving adults alike.

Feel the need for speed? Open Car Lapping is on at Toronto Motorsports Park. Bring your own ride and test it on the track. All skill levels welcome.

Dunnville

Dunnville Canada Day Celebrations

• 11 AM–2:30 PM: Canada Day in the Park at Central Park (Lock & Cedar)

• Celebrate with live music, clowns, games, hot dogs, chips, cake, and ice cream

• Everything is free—bring the whole family and join the fun as Dunnville marks Canada’s 158th birthday!

Don’t forget to head over to Home Hardware’s Garden Centre today; they’re giving away a $100 gift card!

Friends of the Dunnville Library kick off their summer book sale on Wednesday, July 2. It runs all season with new books added weekly, so check back often for fresh finds.

New Amsterdam hosts an open mic night this Thursday from 8 to 11 PM with Cam Silver. Bring your voice, your instrument, or just good vibes for a lively evening.

Swing by Turkstra Lumber this Friday from 11 to 1 for a BBQ in support of the Youth Impact Centre. Grab a burger and support a great local cause.

On July 3, Haldimand-Norfolk Community Senior Support Services hosts drop-in exercises and a social at 10 AM, followed by euchre at 1 PM. A full day of movement and mingling.

Fisherville / Selkirk / South Cayuga

Catch the Ace is back this Wednesday at the Fisherville Community Centre with an estimated jackpot of $60,800. Get your ticket and try your luck before someone else snags it.

Vendors, crafters, food trucks, and exhibitors are wanted for a community wellness event happening in Selkirk the weekend of September 27 and 28. Great exposure and a great cause.
