Good Morning Haldimand County!

Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Week

Something strange is happening in Haldimand County.

People are standing outside… voluntarily. Jackets are lighter. Patios are being stared at hopefully. Someone somewhere has already said the dangerous words, “I think we’re past the worst of winter.”

Spring is clearly on the way. The snowbanks have disappeared, the sun is hanging around longer, and everyone’s mood has improved by about 37 percent. Coincidence? Absolutely not.

You can see it in the local calendar too. After months where social plans mostly involved complaining about the weather and asking, “Is it too early to go to bed?”, the community schedule is suddenly alive again. Dinners, trivia nights, live music, markets, charity events… it’s like the entire county collectively remembered that leaving the house is allowed.

This is the time of year when things start stacking up quickly. One minute you have no plans, the next minute someone has invited you to a spaghetti dinner, your friend is dragging you to trivia night, there’s a fundraiser you feel obligated to attend, and a band playing somewhere that you swear you’ve seen before but can’t quite place. (Don’t worry, they also play Tom Petty.)

It’s also the season of optimistic decision-making. People sign up for things. They buy garden supplies. They start planning projects. Some even claim they’re going to “get organized this year,” which is a bold statement we respect and will quietly ignore by June.

So if you’ve been in winter mode for the past few months, this is your notice: the county is waking up.

Scroll through the list below, and you’ll see what we mean. Pick an event, grab a friend, and get out there. Spring hasn’t officially arrived yet, but around here the preview is already underway.
