Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Weekend

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, the bigger question might be what aren't you doing?
The Mudcat Festival is in full swing in Dunnville, bringing a parade, live music, midway rides, fireworks, vendors, car shows, bed races, and enough activity to keep an entire family busy from morning to night. We've included a link to our event guide below if you're planning a trip.
Elsewhere around Haldimand, outdoor pools open for the season, the Selkirk Tea Festival continues by the lake, Hillbilly Homestead is opening its gates for off-grid farm tours, and Purple Haven is inviting guests to paint, dine, and watch the sunset among the lavender fields.
You'll also find car shows, yard sales, fish fries, drag racing, pickleball, church anniversaries, live music, charity fundraisers, community BBQs, and more than one opportunity to eat steak this weekend.
For those willing to venture a little farther afield, Ohsweken Speedway is racing tonight, Frisky Beaver Winery is hosting a Led Zeppelin tribute, and Smithville's town-wide yard sale promises plenty of treasure hunting opportunities.

Bring your appetite to the Caledonia Fairgrounds this weekend. Caledonia Ribfest serves up award-winning BBQ, live music, cold drinks, and enough ribs to test your shirt buttons. Friday through Sunday
Sing your heart out Friday night at Hammer Hogs' karaoke, then come back Saturday when Bliss takes the stage for an evening of live music.
Enjoy a wild lunch for a good cause at BBQ at the Zoo on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Killman Zoo, supporting the Hamilton Aviary.

Dunnville’s biggest weekend of the year is here. The 50th annual Mudcat Festival brings a parade, live music, fireworks, bed races, a car show, vendors, midway rides, and plenty of reasons to head downtown.
Want armfuls of fresh-cut flowers this summer and next? This morning's Walk & Talk at GrandErie Home Hardware covers how to grow a cut flower garden. Meet at 9 a.m. at the new coffee bar in the garden centre.
Julia's is giving away a truckload of free groceries today at 12:30 p.m. While you're there, make a note to return this weekend for the ribs and blooming onions food truck.
Paint, dine, and watch the sunset in the lavender fields at Purple Haven Lavender Farm's Lavender Blooms event. Charcuterie, creativity, and plenty of purple await Sunday at 6 p.m.
Thousands of rubber ducks will hit the water Saturday at 3 p.m. for the Rotary Club Duck Race at Wingfield Park. It's one of Mudcat Festival's most quack-tastic traditions.
