ACROSS HALDIMAND COUNTY

Local Legions have kicked off their poppy campaigns, and poppy boxes are available at many local businesses. Wear a poppy to recognize the sacrifices that have been made for our freedom and to support local legions in our community.

Caledonia

Caledonia Legion needs helping hands with poppy boxes this weekend. Simple, meaningful, and appreciated by veterans and families.

Monthill Golf and CC is hosting a Very Merry Christmas market on Sunday from 11 to 3. Drop by the Politically Incorrect Pets booth, say you heard about them in the Haldimand County Pulse, and snag 10 percent off your haul.

Hammer Hogs on Friday means karaoke. Bring friends, liquid courage, and your best shower vocals. On Saturday, they bring live music, good drinks, and no reason to sit still. Grab a table, enjoy the band, and call it your cardio for the week.

There’s a Christmas Marketplace on Saturday, 9:30 to 12:30 at St. Patrick’s Church, Orkney St E. Shop gifts, feel festive, and support the food bank while pretending you’re ahead on Christmas shopping.

The Caledonia Legion is open Friday from 2 to 7. The BBQ starts at 5, with live music by Paul Larabie. Plenty of good vibes, so you can skip cooking and planning.

Hammer Hogs has trivia on Monday. Time to flex those useless facts you kept instead of algebra. Pick a smart friend, ride their coattails, and claim the victory anyway.

Caledonia Baptist Church pours a Christmas High Tea this Saturday, 1 to 4. Fancy cups, sweet bites, and friendly gossip disguised as fellowship. Pinkies optional, seconds encouraged.

Caledonia Presbyterian serves lasagna with entertainment and a silent auction this Saturday at 5:30. Eat well, bid boldly, and leave knowing you supported the community.

Crafternoons returns to Caledonia Library on Tuesday, 1 to 2, with a Busted Canvas holiday art project. Glue things, make magic, and claim it’s for the kids while keeping it.

The Community Support Centre’s Christmas Craft Market runs Saturday, 10 to 2, at 103 Inverness St. Shop handmade, sip something warm, and pretend the gifts are for others before keeping half.

The Village meets on Monday, 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Caledonia Library. A supportive space for perinatal and postpartum parents to connect, vent, and realize none of us have it all together.

Cypress 55 plus has line dancing today if your joints cooperate, and euchre on Monday afternoon if you’d rather sit, snack, and school someone with a well-timed trump.

Purple Haven has a stained glass workshop Saturday from 1 to 3, plus a Decoupage Christmas Workshop with lunch on Sunday from 11:30 to 3. Make something gorgeous, eat, glue, laugh, and pretend the crafts are gifts before keeping them.

Mark your calendar for Friday, December 5, because Cayuga Light Up Night is gearing up to be the brightest holiday kick-off around. Ruthven Park marks Remembrance Day with WWI tours Saturday to Tuesday, 11 to 3, every 30 minutes. See family artifacts, a special poppy display on the porch, and the Thompson cemetery. Admission is by donation.

Cravings by Brittany pours high tea on November 8 and 9. Book your spot, bring your best gossip, and treat yourself to sweets that refuse to share the plate.
