Good Morning Haldimand County

Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Weekend

Thanksgiving is behind us, the turkey leftovers are finally disappearing, and Halloween is creeping closer. If you've been looking for an excuse to get out of the house before winter turns us all into hermits, this weekend is happy to oblige.

There's certainly no shortage of spooky business happening around Haldimand County. Ruthven Park is offering cemetery tours and evenings filled with séances and superstitions, Cottonwood Mansion is hosting ghost walks, and Creepy Caledonia Ghost Tours kicks off Saturday night. Apparently, even the dearly departed are getting involved in the local events scene.

If ghosts aren't your thing, Caledonia has a Halloween-themed Makers Market, a used book sale, the Teddy Bear Ball and a Corvairs home game. There's also a British Sports Car Show and Flea Market on Sunday, where you can admire beautiful cars and buy something you absolutely didn't know you needed.

Over in Cayuga, River Road Nature School is hosting its Rooted in Community fundraiser, complete with live music and a petting zoo. Hagersville has a craft show, a marathon crafting day and even a chance to learn how to make sushi. Meanwhile, Dunnville has a brand-new Dollar Tree, which means another place to go in for one thing and somehow leave with twelve.

And if you're willing to venture just beyond the county line, Waterford Pumpkinfest is taking over the weekend with enough fall festivities to make a pumpkin reconsider its career choices.

Of course, there's plenty of live music, karaoke, trivia and community fun happening throughout the county, too.

One last thing: Tuesday is Haldimand County's Small Business Week Breakfast. It's a chance to celebrate the hardworking entrepreneurs who keep our communities going, and perhaps consume an unreasonable amount of coffee before 8 AM.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, have fun, support local and enjoy the beautiful chaos of October!
