Good Morning, Haldimand County

Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Weekend

Halloween is here, and judging by this weekend's calendar, Haldimand County has decided that one night of costumes, candy and questionable fashion choices simply isn't enough.

There are Halloween parties happening just about everywhere, from Caledonia and Hagersville to Dunnville and Nanticoke. We've got ghost tours, haunted high tea, spooky karaoke and enough costume contests to make you seriously reconsider that last-minute outfit you bought five years ago.

Of course, Saturday is the big night for the younger crowd. Local firefighters are getting into the spirit, with Halloween activities in Caledonia and South Haldimand. Dunnville has trick-or-treating at Grand Erie Home Hardware, a Trunk or Treat at Lions Park and plenty of fun at Julia's Charity. If you're heading out on the roads Saturday evening, please slow down and keep an extra eye out for little ghosts, witches and superheroes. Their attention will be on the candy, not the traffic.

And then, almost before the pumpkins have had a chance to collapse, Christmas arrives.

Sunday brings Christmas markets to Caledonia and Fisherville, including an appearance by Santa himself. Apparently, even the North Pole doesn't believe in waiting until November anymore.

For those who would rather avoid both Halloween and Christmas for another few days, there's plenty of live music, racing, markets, workshops and community activities to keep you occupied. Monday also brings Haldimand's Older Adult & Caregiver Day in Hagersville, with helpful information and a discussion about aging in place.

Whatever you're up to this weekend, have fun, support your local businesses and community organizations, and save a few treats for the trick-or-treaters.

Now, let's see what's happening around Haldimand County this weekend!
