Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Week
If you’ve been waiting for your chance to question someone running for office, this is apparently your week.
The candidates are making the rounds, with a Ward 1 Q&A and meet-and-greet in Jarvis tonight, a mayoral debate and candidate meet-and-greet in Caledonia Wednesday, and Ward 5 candidates taking questions in Lowbanks Thursday. Bring your questions. Maybe bring a notebook.
Not feeling particularly political? No problem. There’s plenty else happening.
You can make a fresh fall centrepiece at GrandErie Home Hardware, combine dinner with painting at Bob’s Place, test your trivia knowledge at Concession Road Brewing or grab a microphone at Main 88 and discover whether karaoke sounds better after dark.
Catch the Ace is back at both the Caledonia and Dunnville Legions Wednesday, while Toronto Motorsports Park has evening open car lapping for anyone whose idea of a relaxing Wednesday involves considerably more horsepower.
There are farmers’ markets in Dunnville, Hagersville and Caledonia, plus enough euchre, Hoss and darts happening around the county to keep everyone’s competitive streak properly exercised.
And since fall lawn season is definitely here, GrandErie Home Hardware has some timely advice on how to winterize your lawn now for a healthier, greener comeback next spring.

Catch the Ace returns to Caledonia Legion Wednesday, with ticket sales closing at 7:30 PM and the draw at 8 PM.
Meet the candidates Wednesday at the Caledonia Fairgrounds at 6 PM, followed by the mayoral debate at 7 PM.
Caledonia Farmers’ Market is open Thursday from 2 to 7 PM. Stock up while the local harvest is still coming in.
Caledonia Legion has euchre Thursday at 2 and 7 PM, plus darts at 7 PM. Cards or darts, take your pick.
Haldimand Norfolk REACH’s group for building cooperation and better communication with kids of any age starts tonight at 6 PM at Pope Francis/Grand River School
