Good Morning, Haldimand County
Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Weekend

It's Thanksgiving weekend, which means three things: turkey, stretchy pants, and at least one family member asking a question they really shouldn't.
As you might expect, the community calendar is a little quieter this weekend. Apparently, even the people who organize everything around here deserve a few days off. Imagine that!
But quieter doesn't mean boring. There's still plenty happening if you need an excuse to escape the kitchen, avoid doing dishes, or take a break from discussing politics with your relatives. And given that we're in the middle of a municipal election, that last one might be particularly useful.
The Wine Country Kennel Club Dog Show is taking over the Caledonia Fairgrounds, Ruthven Park is rolling out the classics for Cars in the Park on Monday, and the Townsend Lions are serving up some old-fashioned fall fun at their Harvest Fest on Saturday. There are also live performances, karaoke, a few creative workshops, and enough activities to keep you from spending the entire weekend on the couch.
If you're willing to venture a little farther, the Norfolk County Fair is in full swing, with Finger Eleven and Trooper hitting the stage Saturday night. And Whistling Gardens is opening for one final day on Thanksgiving Monday before closing for the season.
A quick reminder that some businesses and organizations will have adjusted hours over the holiday weekend, so it's worth checking before heading out.
Most importantly, Thanksgiving is a good opportunity to slow down, enjoy some good food, and appreciate the people and places that make Haldimand County such a wonderful community.
Whether you're hosting the whole family, heading somewhere for dinner, or enjoying a peaceful weekend with absolutely no obligations, we hope it's a good one.
Happy Thanksgiving, Haldimand County! And may someone else volunteer to do the dishes.
