Good Morning, Haldimand County!

Here's What's Happening in Haldimand County This Weekend

August arrives with one of the busiest weekends of the summer, and if you're looking for an excuse to get out of the house, Haldimand County has a few ideas.

Doors Open Haldimand returns on Saturday, giving residents and visitors a chance to explore historic buildings, museums, churches, and landmarks that aren't always open to the public. Whether you've lived here your whole life or you're still discovering the county, it's a great opportunity to see places you may have driven past a hundred times without ever stepping inside.

This weekend also brings the fifth annual Emancipation Day gathering in Canfield, an important community event that honours the abolition of slavery across the British Empire while celebrating Black history, culture, and resilience. If you've never attended before, this is a meaningful year to experience it.

Across the county you'll also find live music on patios, charity barbecues, farmers' markets, racing at Toronto Motorsports Park, high tea at Ruthven Park, birds of prey at Rock Point Provincial Park, stained glass workshops, trivia nights, karaoke, and enough local events to make choosing just one a genuine challenge.

Selkirk Sports Day is back for another weekend packed with baseball, family activities, food, music, cornhole, and a Saturday night dance. Meanwhile, WAFMA Heritage Days offers a chance to step back in time and celebrate the area's agricultural and rural history through demonstrations, exhibits, and historic buildings.

As always, thank you for making Haldimand County Pulse part of your week. Every newsletter is built to help you discover more of what's happening across our communities while supporting the organizations, volunteers, businesses, and event organizers who make Haldimand County such a great place to call home.

Now grab your calendar, send a few texts to your favourite people, and start making some weekend plans. There's a good chance you'll find something happening just a few minutes from home.
