WHAT’S HAPPENING IN HALDIMAND COUNTY THIS WEEK

ACROSS HALDIMAND COUNTY

The Farmer Wellness Initiative offers free, unlimited mental health counselling to Ontario farmers, farm families, farm employees, as well as spouses and dependents.

Here’s the agenda for this week’s Council Meeting on Wednesday night.

Caledonia

The Haldimand Horticultural Society meets on Thursday at 7 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Orkney St E. Plant bingo is on, and yes, you can win houseplants. Everyone welcome.

Darts land at the Caledonia Legion on Thursday at 7. Steady hands, friendly competition, and the right amount of playful chirping included.

The Haldimand Biz Hive meets on Wednesday at 9 at Revival Coffee Shop. Network, swap ideas, and start the day with caffeine and conversation.

The Caledonia Arena is busy today with adult skating, open figure skating, and children’s stick & puck. Wednesday adds adult shinny and public skating. Thursday wraps up with adult skate, public skating, and family stick & puck.

Wednesday is free community dinner night at the Community Support Centre on Inverness St from 5-6:30. Warm food, welcoming faces, and a simple way to connect.

The Silent Book Club returns to the Caledonia Library on Wednesday from 6-7:30. Bring a book, read quietly, then chat if you feel like it. No pressure, no homework.

St. Paul’s Prayer Shawl Group meets on Thursday from 10-12 in the parish hall. Knit, chat, and help create shawls that offer warmth and comfort when it’s needed most.

Euchre fans can double up on Thursday at the Caledonia Legion. Games run at 2 and again at 7. Pick your time and bring your best card face.

Cypress 55+ is packed this week. Today has cardio fit, yoga, bingo, and a memory group. Wednesday brings tai chi and crafts. Thursday offers dance fit, yoga, cooking 103, or a financial talk.

Cayuga

Gather and Ground meditation retreat runs tonight from 5-7 at River Road Nature School. Slow down, breathe, and reset your brain for the week ahead. Quietly powerful, no experience needed.

Darts are on Wednesday at 7:30 at the Cayuga Legion. Bring your aim, your patience, and a little friendly attitude. Bullseyes are optional.

Euchre hits the Cayuga Legion Tuesday at 7:30. Grab a partner, shuffle up, and prepare to be weirdly invested in every single hand.

Dunnville

The Dunnville Book Club meets on Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 at the library. This month’s pick is Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty, so come ready for opinions.

Get hands-on at a fused glass workshop on Thursday from 7-9 at Creative Barracks. Open to adults and teens 14+, with a kiln-fired piece you’ll be proud to take home.

Mah Jongg is on Friday from 1-3 at the Dunnville Library. All levels welcome, whether you’re learning, returning, or quietly dominating with a smile.

Euchre night is Wednesday at 6:30 at the Dunnville Legion. Bring a partner or show up solo and get adopted. Either way, the cards will be flying.

The Over 60 Euchre Club meets on Thursday from 1:30-3:30 at the Dunnville Optimist Club. Friendly play, good company, and a perfect afternoon plan.

Adult ukulele lessons hit the Dunnville Library on Wednesday from 3-4. Learn the basics, strum along, and pretend you’ve always been musical. Registration recommended.

Canvas and Mocktails comes to the Dunnville Library with the H.A.C. from 2-3:30. Paint, sip, and leave with something better than another photo on your phone.

Fisherville / Nanticoke/ Selkirk / South Cayuga

Cards are on the table Thursday at 1:30 PM for the Seniors Hoss Party hosted by the Fisherville Lions Club. Friendly games, good laughs, and the occasional “I totally meant to do that” moment included.

The outdoor rink at the Fisherville Lions Hall should be ready this week. If you’re handy with a shovel, they could probably use the help clearing snow, too.
